Long ago, the Brothers Grimm made a contract with the Märchen Demons. The brothers bound them into a magical grimoire and stole their memories, selling them as fiction -- but appeased the demons’ rage with the promise that they could devour the heart of the Grimm descendent who released them. When this was done, the demon with Grimm’s heart would be restored to their true power.

Years passed until Otogi Grimm found and opened the book, not knowing what it was. And that day, the demons within were released and began to hunt him; all but Cinderella, who was bound to serve Otogi. Snow White used his ability to summon familiars to spy on the boy and determine his weakness -- which he figured must be Hatsushiba Hiyori, a girl in Otogi’s class. He kidnapped the girl and lured Otogi to the old abandoned school building to kill him.

He hadn't counted on Cinderella figuring out the antidote to how he'd poisoned Otogi, or the fact that Hiyori was a black belt in Judo.

Suddenly faced with three enemies, Snow White was overpowered and Otogi began to bind him to the grimoire after revealing his weakness. However, Otogi decided not to bind him completely, despite Cinderella’s objection. Still physically free, Snow White was rescued by Red Riding Hood. Of course, when he recovered trapped between two worlds, he didn’t see it as something to be thankful for. Stalking Otogi again, he attempted to attack him without powers -- but the grimoire was gone.

Otogi's classmate Sorimachi Yuma had betrayed him for the grimoire. The demon Nekota (or “Puss In Boots”) had long since turned Sorimachi against Otogi with promises of power and being the “hero” of Grimm’s legacy, and used his power to make it so. Still bound to the book, Cinderella had no choice but to follow, and Snow saw no point in killing Otogi if he didn't have the book with him. Unsure which soul would give him his power, Snow decided he would find whoever held the book -- except Sorimachi found them first. With Nekota’s’ ability, whoever held the grimoire would still be able to capture and control the Märchen Demons, and Sorimachi had his eyes on adding Snow White to his collection. Rapunzel was summoned to attack, showing what happened to those demons fully trapped within the book -- they were nothing more but puppets and had no will of their own. To Snow’s shock, Otogi jumped in to get whipped by Rapunzel in his place. Not about to risk a second attack, Snow grabbed Otogi and Hiyori and fled.

Snow White insisted that his sole goal was the grimoire, and once that was recovered Otogi would again be his target. Otogi agreed that if Snow helped him, then he would give Snow his powers back. However, as Snow White spent time with Otogi, Hiyori, and Bremen, things began to change. He couldn’t forget the way Otogi had protected him from Rapunzel without hesitation. Hiyori gave him her brother’s glasses so that he wouldn’t be affected by seeing his reflection. He saw the way Otogi fought to save others, including Sorimachi from Nekota’s trap. And it didn’t hurt that Otogi confessed that Snow White had a pretty face. He hated to admit it… but he didn’t want to kill Otogi anymore. And he hated that Cinderella had noticed how he’d become protective of Grimm’s descendent.

Puss in Boots returned with his own crew of allied Märchen Demons, the Jäger, to challenge Otogi’s “family” for his soul. Red Riding Hood made his move first. He confessed to Snow White that, while he initially had no interest in Otogi’s heart, Nekota had promised to grant his wish if he returned with it. He asked Snow to rejoin Nekota, but Snow stated he had already gotten his wish. While the Märchen could not be killed by their own kind, they could still feel pain, and Snow White was saved again from his former friend by Otogi and Sorimachi. Red had been cursed as both the hunter and wolf by the full moon, and when Otogi bound him to the grimoire the wolf was sealed. Nekota had promised to cure his lycanthropy if Red had returned with Grimm’s heart, but now the hunter had no reason to return. Rapunzel as well was released; only a true descendent of Grimm could fully bind the demons, and Nekota’s illusions were not enough. Once again, Snow had seen Otogi save the demons rather than trap them, even when it diminished his own power.

With a willing army behind him, including Snow White, Otogi readied to face down Nekota, Bluebeard, and Hansel and Gretel. But the greatest enemies of all were revealed to be the very ancestors who had bartered Otogi’s soul. When the truth emerged that the Brothers Grimm were still alive by their dark magic, Snow White and the other allied Märchen Demons came to Otogi’s aid but Jacob Grimm -- truly Otogi’s uncle -- managed to put a curse on Otogi’s heart before making his escape. Otogi fell into a coma and Jacob held the power to stop his heart at any time. Snow White was the first to show bitterness for what happened and lashed out at the others for the inability to stop the curse. He was also one of the first at Otogi’s side when the boy woke up.

Otogi and his allies tracked down his ancestors and Jäger, his friends breaking off to take on each new enemy, pushing him forward to face the Brothers Grimm and rescue Cinderella. In the end, as Jacob stopped Otogi’s heart for Cinderella to watch, it was the Brothers’ own contract that was their undoing. Despite his own unique weakness and fear as a Märchen Demon, Cinderella was bound to serve Otogi when called -- and when called so passionately, he overcame his weakness to do so, stabbing Jacob. Choosing the love of his son over his cursed subservience to his brother, Wilhelm Grimm betrayed Jacob for Otogi to live. He restrained Jacob and held him as their manse burned around them, sacrificing himself so that Otogi and his friends could escape. With the Brothers Grimm finally dead, the curse on Otogi’s heart was broken. He was free -- as was Snow White and the other demons that had come to love him.

Personality: Snow White comes across as very self-centered and narcissistic. He is beautiful and he knows he’s beautiful, and he is vain to the point of insulting others for (naturally) not being his equal. For his entire life, physical beauty had been a focus and was essentially taught as what defines self-worth. After suffering his mother’s abuse as a child, his entire being became wrapped up in his looks. If he is not beautiful, then he is nothing; and when faced with his reflection, his anxiety over this shows him his deepest fears. Having learned that beauty was what defined him, having learned that he could trust no one, Snow White became selfish, self-centered, and ambitious for what would best serve him, regardless of who he hurt along the way. When he perceives his greatness is being ignored, he becomes very upset and insulted.

That said, his interactions with Otogi Grimm during the series spark a change in him and make him question not only his behavior but his value beyond the physical aesthetic. Initially he was upset that Otogi did not care the least bit how he looked, but eventually he came to realize that Otogi cared about people’s hearts rather than their appearance. And when Otogi did not bind him back into the book but left him free -- in fact, risked himself to protect Snow White against Rapunzel -- Snow was able to realize that it wasn’t about leaving him powerless, it meant he was more than just a pretty face. Otogi saw him as a person, and Snow is trying to see himself that way. Old habits die hard, though, so most of the time his attitude will still be that of a haughty princess. But for those who try to know him and see the real him, he becomes very protective. He is proud and won’t admit affection for others, but if he manages to make a friend he wants to keep them close. He went in for powers, thinking that’s what he wanted; he left with the satisfaction of acceptance, finding that’s what he needed.

Of course, him being protective and caring usually comes out as harsh and abrasive. He has literally, physically kicked Otogi and Sorimachi out of a battle to try to protect them before and one can assume by the way they flew that it was intense. Sprawled on the ground, Sorimachi suggested to Otogi that they never encourage Snow to join the soccer team. When Otogi was cursed by Jacob and Cinderella was blackmailed to follow the Brothers Grimm, Snow White lashed out at Sorimachi for not protecting his friend and stopping it. His heart is in the right place and he cares, but his expression of it is considerably lacking.

He has a similar lack of tact toward women in general and is a bit intimidated by strong ones. He frequently calls Hiyori “Amazon,” even when he isn’t trying to be derisive, much to her dismay. He’ll recognize a fault or trait in others that he honestly won’t see in himself, such as calling Sorimachi “pig-headed” for not admitting to being worried about Otogi -- even when he felt the same way. And, perhaps surprisingly, Snow White has a special affinity for animals… or, rather, the most venomous ones he can find. Even when he loses the ability to summon demon familiars, Snow will seek out and keep such dangerous pets including snakes, spiders, and he’s even gone diving for venomous fish. To the chagrin of the others, he keeps them in the Grimm home and takes them out to play with them, calling them cute.

Snow White hates children and anyone who thinks they have “something in common” with him, perceiving it as an insulting comparison. He finds children obnoxious and loud, especially Hansel and Gretel, and he refuses to acknowledge that he ever was one. When Hansel and Gretel attempt to play on his feelings by saying they understand him as similar “pitiful” victims, Snow White rails against him and says he is nothing like them since Otogi gave him somewhere to belong.

On Vaikuntha, Snow White will be motivated primarily by trying to get home. Losing the entirety of his abilities as a Märchen Demon AGAIN, not to mention being reduced to a mere mortal, will frustrate him immensely and make him all the more prickly and insensitive -- even with any new abilities gained by the Job system. Since he was already beautiful and perfect the way he was, losing that is a doubly emotional blow. Once the initial shock wears off, Snow intends to use what he can in this world to his advantage… even if it could be a little abrasive, bordering on ruthless. Otogi had become his family, his home, and being taken from that is a deep wound. Snow White fully intends to return to that home. He’s not about to let anyone try to control him again.
